Rodgers will be delighted: Three reasons why Rangers must scrap reported manager talks
One of the most intriguing stories in football this week, is the news that has emerged that Steven Gerrard has held talks with Rangers to become the new Gers manager.
The Scottish Sun revealed that Gers director of football Mark Allen held talks with the Liverpool legend, and we await the outcome of the talks to find out if Gerrard will take over from Graeme Murty next season.
The choice would certainly appear to be out of left-field, as aside from a sting managing the Liverpool academy side, the 37-year-old has never worked as a club manager before.
It does seem like a huge gamble from Allen and the Gers board, and it is a decision that they have to get right, as after the failures of Pedro Caixinha and Mark Warburton it is unlikely that Gers fans will stand for another manager who is unable to mount a serious challenge to Celtic.
