Frank Lampard raves over this Tottenham revelation after performance v Real Madrid
By Russell Edge
Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard was left raving over the performance of Tottenham youngster Harry Winks after his performance against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old, who has been a revelation in the centre of the park this season, was named in the starting XI against the Spanish giants, but refused to let the magnitude of the situation faze him.
It was an impressive performance considering the talent of the opposition, as he went head-to-head with the likes of former Spurs star Luka Modric and German international Toni Kroos.
His performance caught the eye of the BT Sports pundits, who had questioned how he would perform prior to kick off.
Glenn Hoddle said on BT Sport 2 (17/10, 19:00): “I think this is going to be a real test for him tactically.

“When you’re a youngster and you’re learning the game if you’re out of position by half a yard in that midfield area, you’re picked off.”
Lampard meanwhile wondered how he would cope with taking on players turning out for the current holders of the Champions League, noting that it was a step up from anything he had faced before.
“Tonight could be an eye opener for Winks, and it’s how he reacts to that extra step up in quality,” the former Chelsea man told BT Sport 2.
However the Tottenham youngster coped well with what was thrown at him, and was congratulated on his performance by the BT Sports pundits.
“His passing was fantastic, he wanted the ball all over the place and his defensive positioning, which sometimes can be overlooked, he always seemed to be in good positions,” Lampard told BT Sport 2.

“It’s very, very impressive and exciting for us as English men to have an Englishman like that.”
After sitting out for six months after a serious injury, Winks returned to the Tottenham squad this season and has established himself as a key player despite his age.
He has appeared in nine of the club’s 12 games this season and has started each of the Lilywhites’ last four matches, taking his total to 45 appearances for the club.
His form also earned him a call up to the senior England squad, having made an appearance at every youth level in his career, and made his debut against Lithuania earlier this month.
