'At least we don't have to spend £8m' - Leeds fans on possibility of speed machine summer arrival
By Alex Stevens
Leeds United fans on Twitter expect Alfonso Pedraza to return to Spain as the club’s promotion hopes hang by a thread.
The Yorkshire giants signed the Spain Under-21 international on a loan-to-buy deal in the January transfer window.
It was reported at the time that a clause in the contract stipulated that Leeds would have to pay the winger’s parent club Villarreal £8million to sign him permanently in the summer if they were to get promoted.
That now looks unlikely after four defeats in six Championship matches left Leeds’ play-offs hopes in tatters.
Supporters are pessimistic about the possibility of speed machine Pedraza returning to the club next season as final preparations are made for the final home match of the season, against Norwich at Elland Road on Saturday.

Pedraza made a big impact in the Spanish second tier while on loan at Lugo in the first half of the season, scoring six goals and supplying eight assists from 23 matches.
He has failed to replicate that form at Leeds, with 12 matches, eight of which he has started, yielding just a single goal.
Garry Monk’s team have accumulated 73 points from 44 matches and can still secure a top-six finish and a place in the play-offs, but are relying on their rivals Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday and Reading slipping up.
In other Leeds United transfer news, a stunning £14million bid is being prepared as deal edges closer with Premier League big hitters.
