'Leaving', 'Isn't happening' - Tottenham fans react to Pochettino selection for win against Hull

By Harry Sykes

Vincent Janssen was named on the substitute’s bench for Tottenham’s 7-1 Premier League demolition of Hull on Sunday – and many fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino opted to select a full-strength side despite Spurs having already sewn up the runners-up spot in the division and seemingly having little to play for.

Harry Kane once again led the attack and scored his second hat-trick in four days as Tottenham once again ran amok.

Further goals from Dele Alli, Victor Wanyama, Ben Davies and Toby Alderweireld secured a remarkable win and lifted Spurs’ points tally for the season to 86 points, seven adrift of champions Chelsea.

With Pochettino showing little in the way of sentiment in his selections, it means that Janssen once again had to settle for a place on the bench.

The Dutchman did get a late run-out as he replaced Golden Boot winner Kane for the final 11 minutes.

Nonetheless, many Spurs fans wanted to see more of Janssen and claimed his place on the periphery was a strong indicator he will not be at the club next season.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Janssen has struggled to make an impact since his £18million transfer from AZ Alkmaar last summer.

He has scored just six goals in all competitions, with four of them coming from the penalty spot.

In other Tottenham team news, a £21.5million striker who has ripped up a tough league this season has pushed for a massive move after Spurs agreed personal terms.
