The 20-year-old has been part of the Whites much talked about youth setup from which a number of names have already started to come through.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Tom Pearce and Paudie O’Connor have all made the step up over the past 12 months and fans will no doubt be delighted after hearing that the young Spaniard had extended his contract.
Football Insider verdict:
Aside from all the negativity surrounding the club’s director of football Victor Orta, Leeds’ U23 team have been a real cause for excitement and having Rey as part of that with a view to stepping up into the first team is a prospect that will have fans licking their lips. However, while it is a case of one deal done, there remains the question as to when Pearce too will sign on the dotted line. The youngster is out of contract but after breaking into the senior side with a number of fine and commanding displays in the defence, while no news is good news, the club will need to ensure they do not let the youngster slip through the net by handing him an offer he can not refuse. But for the interim, Rey’s signing is a massive positive and a sign that the club is heading in the right direction.
