Leeds boss Monk responds to reported interest from Norwich
By Amir Mir
Leeds manager Garry Monk has shut down rumours that he is being lined up to take the vacant post at Norwich City.
The Mirror claimed that the Canaries are ready to pounce on Monk if he fails to take his current club up to the Premier League.
At this moment in time, the Whites are sitting one place below and three points outside of the top six in the Championship table.
Monk’s team host Norwich on Saturday afternoon at Elland Road, knowing dropped points could all but end their chances of finishing in the top six if results also go against them.
Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Adam Pope posted on his personal Twitter account Monk’s response to the Norwich interest.
Alex Neil was in charge of Norwich at the start of the season after their relegation from the top-flight alongside Newcastle and Aston Villa.
However, after an inconsistent season, the Scotsman was unable to guide them back to the promised land as they currently sit one place below and six points behind Leeds in the table.
On the other hand, Monk, who took charge at Elland Road in the summer, has had a fantastic debut season despite recent bad results.
The former Swansea manager has helped them show promotion form throughout the campaign, but four defeats in their last six matches has dented their chances of securing a top six place.
