Major blow to play-off hopes: Monk confirms Leeds senior man will miss Norwich clash
By Amir Mir
Garry Monk has confirmed that Liam Bridcutt “won’t be available” for Leeds when they take on Norwich this Saturday at Elland Road.
The news will be a major blow to the club’s play-off hopes because Bridcutt has been a key figure in the middle of the park this season.
Bridcutt was absence as his side suffered a 2-1 away defeat at Burton last Saturday, which dented their chances of securing a place in the top six.
It means possible promotion to the Premier League is now out of Leeds’ hands as they are one place and three points behind sixth-placed Fulham in the table.
Here is Monk explaining why Briductt will miss the key match at the weekend, with his quotes posted by the club’s official Twitter account.

“Liam Bridcutt won’t be available,” said Monk. “He has a soreness around his Achilles.”

Briductt has played 25 league matches for his club in his injury-hit season, providing two assists and picking up seven yellow cards.
Leeds have lost four of their last six matches, which has resulted in them falling outside of the play-off places despite sitting in the top six for the majority of the campaign.
The Yorkshire club will be hoping their senior man will be available for their final match of the season when they take on relegation-threatened Wigan away from home.
Until then, Monk’s team have to pick up three points at the weekend else their promotion hopes could be out of the window before the final game of the season if other results go against them.
