Leeds chief sends Twitter message to fans after Sheffield Wednesday triumph

By Matt Farr

Leeds co-owner Andrea Radrizzani has hailed the atmosphere at Elland Road during the victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The home side emerged victorious with a 1-o victory over their promotion rivals, courtesy of Chris Wood’s first-half strike, his 23rd goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Rob Green also played an instrumental role, denying Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes from the penalty spot with a superb diving save.

Leeds chief Radrizzani was left delighted with the performance, taking to his personal Twitter account after the final-whistle to deliver his verdict.

He thanked the fans for their role in the victory, and praised the team for their energy and spirit.

The result sees Leeds tighten their grip on the play-off places, where they are now just seven points behind second-placed Brighton.

Garry Monk’s side jumped into fourth in the Championship, but could slip behind Reading into fifth if the Royals snap up a point against Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

They have a comfortable nine-point cushion, meanwhile, ahead of seventh-placed Fulham.

Leeds have now beaten Sheffield Wednesday on both meetings between the two sides in the league this season, scoring four goals in total and keeping two clean-sheets.

In other Leeds news, Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter to Jordan Rhodes’ lacklustre display for Sheffield Wednesday.
