Leeds fans react on Twitter to Rhodes display for Sheffield Wednesday

By Matt Farr

Jordan Rhodes drew another blank for Sheffield Wednesday as they were beaten by Leeds on Saturday afternoon – and Leeds fans on Twitter are delighted.

The 27-year-old missed an opportunity to draw the away side level from the penalty spot in the second-half as Leeds recorded a crucial 1-o victory over their Championship rivals.

Rhodes is currently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday from Middlesbrough until the end of the season, but has found the back of the net just once from his first six appearances for the club.

Leeds were reportedly interested in signing the Scotland international last month, but after seeing him falter against their side, Leeds fans on Twitter were delighted that the club did not sign him.

To add insult to injury for Rhodes, Leeds’ Chris Wood fared much better during the encounter, netting the game’s only goal.

The New Zealand international has led from the front this season, scoring 23 goals from 37 appearances in all competitions.

Wood cost Leeds just £3million in 2015, while Middlesbrough were looking for offers reportedly in the region £13million for the services of Rhodes.

Leeds fans are firmly under the impression that they dodged a bullet in the transfer market, and were able to relish in the spoils of a valuable victory over their promotion rivals.

The victory sends Garry Monk’s side up into fourth place in the Championship, three points clear of Sheffield Wednesday who are in sixth.
