'Leeds could be perfect' - Exclusive: Update in hunt to sign 'Fantastic' PL star, Bent reacts

Darren Bent claims that Leeds United could be the “perfect” club for Harry Wilson to join if he leaves Liverpool permanently this summer.

The former Premier League and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, suggests that the versatile attacker needs settle after a spate of loan spells.

As revealed by Football Insider on Monday, the Whites’ interest in the 23-year-old has cooled in recent days despite years of scouting and an asking price of just £15million.

Leeds were beaten by Derby to Wilson’s signing on loan in 2018, while he spent last season with Bournemouth as they were relegated to the Championship.

Bent claims that regular game time at the highest possible level is what Wilson desperately needs and suggests Elland Road could be the ideal destination for him.

Bent told Football Insider: “I watched Harry Wilson a lot when he was at Derby and a bit when he was at Bournemouth and I do really like him.

“I still don’t feel he’s reached the level I expected him to be at, especially after his season at Derby, when he went on loan to the Premier League I expected him to kick on.

“He could be a fantastic signing but we go back to this whole being settled thing – rather than going on loan to Leeds, on loan to Bournemouth, on loan to Derby, at some stage you need to settle down and he’s getting to an age – he’s a Wales international – where he needs to be settled and playing.

“I think Leeds could be perfect, the perfect landing spot for him.”

Wilson has a total of 31 Premier League appearances and seven goals to his name to date – all of which came with Bournemouth last term.

His one and only outing for Liverpool came as a 25-minute cameo in an FA Cup win over Plymouth Argyle.

In other Leeds United news, the club are set to announce THREE new signings after bids accepted.
