Leeds could be ready for Pascal Struijk exit as Paraag Marathe admits SCR impact

Leeds United may be open to selling Pascal Struijk to raise funds in the upcoming transfer window.

Paraag Marathe has admitted that the switch from the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) to the Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) in the summer will affect the Whites’ transfer strategy.

The 49ers Enterprises chief believes the West Yorkshire outfit will need to be strategic with their recruitment in the coming weeks as they gear up for another difficult season in the Premier League.

Daniel Farke has heavily relied on the Dutch centre-back and the German manager certainly won’t be pleased to lose him.

Struijk’s exit from Elland Road makes even more sense if he doesn’t sign a new contract soon, with his current deal entering the final year.

Leeds United have several summer contract priorities

In a message shared by Marathe on 25 May, he said, “This summer, instead of PSR, SCR will impact our transfer market approach. As our accounts reflect, we spent every penny possible, as promised, to earn promotion and keep the club in the Premier League.

“Our approach to the transfer market will once again be strategic and disciplined to comply with regulations while striving further to improve, and players will both arrive and depart as a result.”

Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke expects Ethan Ampadu’s contract talks at Leeds to accelerate after securing Premier League safety.

The 25-year-old Welsh midfielder’s current deal expires in 2027 and the Whites should be prioritising his extension.

Leeds players whose contracts are ending in the next year

Struijk, Ilia Gruev and Brenden Aaronson are in the same boat, while Karl Darlow will be a free agent at the end of June.

There are plenty of key decisions the West Yorkshire outfit have to make regarding the futures of stars whose futures are up in the air and their sales shouldn’t be ruled out for the time being.

While the 26-year-old Dutch centre-back has been pivotal to the former Norwich City boss’s plans in LS11, his time may be coming to an end.

Daniel Farke has glaring issue at Elland Road

Football Insider correspondent O’Rourke has also spoken about Shakhtar Donetsk’s goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk emerging as a target for Leeds.

Lucas Perri’s situation at Elland Road seems uncertain after falling down the pecking order midway through the season and he could potentially be replaced by the 27-year-old Ukraine international.

Karl Darlow put in some decent performances for the West Yorkshire outfit in the 2025-26 campaign, but Farke could certainly do with an upgrade in the position.

A new quality goalkeeper would surely take the Peacocks to the next level, but it remains to be seen whether the 49ers have the funds to pull off multiple major deals in the summer.
