Leeds duo named in 20-man list of dirtiest Championship players - report

Leeds duo Chris Wood and Kalvin Phillips are two of the dirtiest players in the Championship this season, according to a report.
Both Wood and Phillips have been instrumental in helping Garry Monk’s side defy pre-season expectations this season to lie in a lofty fourth place in the Championship table.
But in a list compiled by the Daily Express, Wood and Phillips sit in the second tier’s top 20 players to have committed the most fouls during the 2016-17 league campaign.
Both Leeds stars are currently in joint 16th on 43 fouls, a long way behind current leader – Brighton striker Glenn Murray who has committed 73 fouls throughout the campaign.
New Zealand international Wood’s place on the list isn’t surprising – his desire to defend from the front and his aerial prowess leads to fouls being called against him.

However, academy product Phillips needs to change his game, after his discipline was called into question after making just 18 Championship starts this season.
The central midfield picked up his second red card of the season against Fulham on Tuesday night, as he begins to develop a reputation for losing his head in pressurised situations.
Phillips, 21, will be suspended for Saturday’s visit of London side Queens Park Rangers, as Monk’s Yorkshire giants look to exact revenge on Ian Holloway’s side.
QPR secured a 3-0 win at Loftus Road in Monk’s first game in charge of the Whites, but with the tables turned, Leeds will be hoping to secure their 21st league win of the season.
Three points, in the absence of Phillips, could see them leapfrog Huddersfield into third place, with top scorer Wood expected to return from a minor calf issue.
In other Leeds news, fans have urged Monk to give this 23-year-old another chance at Elland Road.
