Leeds expected 4-2-3-1 v Rotherham: Senior duo return in three changes

By Amir Mir

Leeds could make three changes to their starting XI when they welcome neighbours Rotherham to Elland Road on Monday afternoon.

Garry Monk’s side picked up a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa on Thursday evening and will be looking to continue their good form in this Yorkshire derby.

Striker Chris Wood, defender Kyle Bartley and midfielder Ronaldo Vieira could be selected to start the game with Stuart Dallas, Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips possibly missing out.

New Zealand international Wood came on as a substitute at Villa Park, while Bartley missed the game through injury.

Monk will be hoping the senior duo will be ready to start this fixture as he might be looking to freshen up his team in what is a busy festive period.

Vieira could replace Phillips in the middle of the park after he produced a poor display during the draw in the Midlands.

Woods will be looking to add to his 11 goals in the Championship this season, with pacy attackers Kemar Roofe and Hadi Sacko providing the service out wide, while Souleymane Doukara offers the strength in behind.

At the back, popular centre-back Pontus Jansson should start and will be looking to continue his good form after he found the back of the net in the Whites last fixture.

Gaetano Berardi and Luke Ayling could play as full-backs, with Robert Green set to start between the sticks after his heroic display against Villa.

In other Leeds team news, the girlfriend of Pontus Jansson has delivered this message about his future.
