Leeds expected 4-5-1 v Cardiff: Two fan favourites return in three changes
By Danny Wright
Leeds United are expected to make three changes to their starting line-up for Tuesday night’s clash with Cardiff in South Wales.
Fan favourites Gaetano Berardi and Pontus Jansson are in line to return to Thomas Christiansen’s XI at the Cardiff City Stadium after missing out in Saturday’s tense 3-2 win against Ipswich.
It is very likely that they will replace Vurnon Anita and Conor Shaugnessey in the side while Kemar Roofe could also come back into the fold with Ezgjan Alioski dropping to the bench.
Felix Wiedwald is very much expected to keep his place between the sticks behind a back four of Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper and the returning duo of Jansson and Berardi.
Jansson missed the Ipswich game through injury but is hopeful of a return against Cardiff while Berardi was benched at the weekend following an impressive 120-minute-long display against Burnley in the League Cup just days before.

Kalvin Phillips and in-form Eunan O’Kane are likely to keep their spots in the heart of the 4-5-1 formation as their partnership seems to grow stronger with each game they play.
Ex-Swansea player Pablo Hernandez could be given a chance to start against his old foe Cardiff on Tuesday night on the right wing with Roofe coming in on the left as Christiansen has regularly switched between him and Alioski in midweek fixtures.
Samu Saiz is expected to start in the No 10 role while Pierre-Michel Lasogga, who jetted out to Germany at the weekend after the birth of his daughter, could be available to lead the line once more after his goalscoring display against Ipswich on Saturday.
Leeds will know that anything less than a win in their vital South Wales showdown could see them fall off their perch at the top of the Championship standings this week.
Wolves, who play Sheffield United on Wednesday, and Neil Warnock’s Cardiff are all level on points with the Whites at the summit of the table going into this round of fixtures.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have hurried this player back for the Cardiff clash.
