Leeds United fans took to Twitter to rip Eunan O’Kane to shreds after his performance in their team’s 2-1 Championship defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.
The 27-year-old midfielder captained the team side during Paul Heckingbottom’s first game in charge as he returned to the starting XI after serving a three-match suspension.
But it was not a memorable afternoon for O’Kane in a feisty Yorkshire derby.
Billy Sharp opened the scoring after just two minutes at Bramall Lane with a stunning volley inside the penalty area that was cancelled out shortly after the half-time break as Pierre-Michel Lasogga netted a brilliant leader.
Hosts United went on to secure the three points in the Championship as Sharp added his second from the penalty spot, which was conceded when O’Kane was penalised for a mistimed challenge.
Leeds fans on social media singled out the Irish central midfielder for his individual display and have suggested he should be axed from the side.
Here is a selection of the best messages on Twitter:

The result means that Leeds have slipped to 11th in the league table and are now eight points adrift of the play-off positions.
In other Leeds United news, fans have gone into meltdown after it has been confirmed that the club have bid “extraordinary” sum of up to £12million for goal machine.
