Leeds fans rage at penalty drama against Rotherham after analysing latest footage – ‘Jokers’
Leeds fans feel Wilfried Gnonto was wrongly denied a penalty against Rotherham United after analysing latest footage
Leeds United supporters on social media were livid that appeals for a penalty were waved away by referee Andrew Madley during their 3-0 win over Rotherham United on Saturday (10 February).
The Whites continued their winning streak in the Championship with a comfortable victory against Yorkshire rivals at Elland Road.
Daniel Farke’s side have now won six league games on the bounce in the Championship and are chasing down Southampton in second place.
The hosts opened the scoring after just 10 minutes through Patrick Bamford – who scored from close range and avoided complaints over a potential handball.
Leeds thought they had won a penalty just minutes before the half-time break when Wilfried Gnonto was brought down by Sebastian Revan, but Madley instead pointed for a goal-kick.
Leeds responded with two second-half goals from Crysencio Summerville – including one from the penalty spot on the hour mark.
Supporters on social media were delighted with the performance but were left angered by their denied penalty appeals.
Leeds continue their promotion push with a trip to Swansea City on Tuesday evening (13 February).
Farke’s side currently sit outside of the automatic promotion spots – just one point behind Southampton.
