'Absolute farce', 'Ridiculous' - Leeds fans react to senior star's season-ending bombshell

Leeds United right-back Gaetano Berardi has had his five-game suspension officially confirmed by the Football Association following his dismissal on Saturday against Sunderland.

The Switzerland international will see him miss the remainder of the season as a result of a red card received for a two-footed lunge on Callum McManaman against Sunderland, and comes on top of two other red-cards received by the 29-year-old this campaign.

After being given his marching orders against Cardiff City and Bristol City earlier in the campaign, it means that the defender has missed ten games of the season through suspension, almost 25% of matches.

The Swiss-native on the whole is well-liked by the Whites faithful who appreciate the gust and effort that he puts into his game but following this latest setback it would seem as though this is no longer the case, and they are beginning to turn on him.

Many fans turned to dubbing their senior star a “liability” for his actions, with several suggesting his time at the club must be up and they should be shipping him out in the summer.

The 29-year-old has two years left on his contract with the Elland Road outfit so unless there are any offers for his services in the interim, he will be at the club for the foreseeable.
