Ezgjan Alioski was given the nod to start Leeds United’s Championship 1-0 defeat against Millwall on Saturday – and fans took to Twitter to claim he struggled to make an impact.

Alioski was named in the starting XI for the seventh time in Leeds’ eight league fixtures this season as manager Thomas Christiansen made only one enforced change from the side that beat Birmingham City 2-0 in midweek.

But the Macedonia international found it difficult to get on the ball in what was a fiercely contested match won by Aiden O’Brien’s goal after 73 minutes.

He was replaced at half-time by Kemar Roofe as part of a double substitution in which Stuart Dallas replaced Pablo Hernandez.

Supporters of the Yorkshire giants pointed out that Alioski had an introduction to a classic Championship fixture.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Leeds suffered their first defeat of the season from 10 matches in all competitions, eight of which have come in the Championship.

They remain top of the table, ahead of second-placed Wolves and Cardiff City in third only on goal difference.

In other Leeds United news, Alvin Martin has made an astonishing claim about Christiansen’s team that fans will love.
