'Strange move', 'Unbelievable' - Leeds fans react as forward deal is ripped up
Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to react after it had been confirmed that Eoghan Stokes had his contract at Elland Road ripped up on Thursday morning.
The Whites announced on their official Twitter account and official website that Stokes, 21, has had his deal terminated by mutual consent after five-and-a-half years in the youth set-up at Elland Road.

Stokes had only made just one senior appearance in his time at Leeds when he featured in the 5-1 hammering of Newport County in the EFL Cup last August.
The Republic of Ireland youth international was signed from Dublin-based academy St Kevin’s Boys in 2012, the same academy where future senior internationals Robbie Brady and Damien Duff kick started their careers.
Leeds fans seem slightly shocked that Stokes had been allowed to leave Elland Road after all these years, with them seeing the centre-forward as one of the brightest young talents in Carlos Corberan’s Under-23s side.
One shocked fan claimed that it was “unbelievable” that the young striker was allowed to leave.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
Seems a strange move

22 and not progressing. Nowhere near the first team so he probably pushed it to get first teamaction

He'll drop down the leagues and build a good career. Back at this level in a few years, he's a talent. Best of luck, Eoghan!

Unbelievable genuinely thought he could be a big player here eventually … don’t seem to want to give any of these lads a proper chance these days

Leeds did sign a new young striker on deadline day in Tyler Roberts, who arrived from West Brom for a fee widely reported to have been £2.5million, rising to £4million.
The Wales Under-21 international was highly rated by the Baggies and their fanbase so it will be exciting to see how he gets on at Elland Road.
