'PH job on the line', 'Really worrying' – Leeds fans baffled and angry at new Heck comments
Paul Heckingbottom revealed that Caleb Ekuban was starting ahead of Pierre-Michel Lasogga on merit, but fans have been left baffled and angry by his comments.
Lasogga is Leeds’ top scorer with 10 goals in 28 Championship games, with Kemar Roofe back on nine from 30.
Ekuban has one from 15 appearances and got that in the recent 2-1 win against Bolton.
However, Heckingbottom praised the young striker in his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon, saying that the other Leeds players “love him”.
Leeds fans aren’t having it though and one fan said the statement was “really worrying”, with another saying his job was on the line.
A few fans said that strikers are surely judged on goals and that is an area that Ekuban is sorely lacking.

Most fans seem to want Lasogga to start against Sunderland on Saturday, but Heckingbottom’s comments don’t seem to make that very likely.
Here are the best reactions from frustrated fans:
Been here before with the likeable person syndrome…..urm TC. I’m sure he’s a lovely fella but we are a football club that needs a striker who can score

But not on goals 10-1 to Lassoga in that department

No disrespect to Ekuban but I'd much rather see @Lasogga10 starting and playing, we may not have scored but for me the game changed for the better when he came on against Fulham.

Lasogga has way more goals than Ekuban #heckout

Merit ?? … As a striker you are judged on goals so where is the merit in playing someone that cant score ?. Its not like he hasnt had the chances of which you could use as an excuse.
At the end of the day, its PH job hes putting on the line.

That statement is really worrying

If I knew him I’d probably love him. But I’d still tell him as a lone striker he’s gash. If yer gonna Play Ekuban, especially at home, play him in a front 2 and he’ll do ok.
