Leeds fans react to Jay-Roy Grot display for Under-23s
By Richard Parks
Leeds United fans took to Twitter to criticise Jay-Roy Grot for his performance for their Under-23s on Friday afternoon even though they thrashed Nottingham Forest 5-1.
The striker, who was a substitute for the senior side in their 4-1 defeat at Cardiff City last weekend, was demoted to the youth team and played 78 minutes in the Professional Development League clash at Thorpe Arch.
Leeds ran out comfortable winners but the centre-forward was unable to grab himself a goal in a manner that has been familiar to supporters.
Grot has been unable to make a serious impression on the senior team since his arrival last summer, failing to score in 16 senior appearances.
The 19-year-old Dutchman was given a runout for the Under-23s team and will hope he managed to catch the eye of new senior manager Paul Heckingbottom as he looks to make a fresh start.
Leeds fans on social media were unimpressed with Grot’s display and, with comments like “out of his depth” and “garbage”, believe he is too raw to be playing for the first team.
Here is a selection of the best messages on Twitter:
First fifteen minutes ha told me the U23s have some great pace in them and it also still confirms that Grot is garbage he’s had about 6 great balls sent up to him and hasn’t managed to hold it up once he’s so awful it hurts #LUFC

Leeds U23 4-1 up against Florists at HT.Leeds only got 10 men, Jay Roy Grot on the pitch but not counting him, had a terrible half totally inafective and immobile…..

Grot doesn't seem to be at the level of the U23s today, he's not been bad but just not on the level of everyone else imo. My only negative tweet about the U23s today.
