Leeds fans react on Twitter to Grimes display v Cambridge
By Dominic Toner
Matt Grimes played the full 90 minutes for Leeds against Cambridge – and the club’s supporters were furious with his performance on Twitter.
The 21-year-old is currently on a season-long loan deal at Elland Road and was named in the starting line-up against the League Two side.
Leeds managed to overcome Cambridge in a tight affair and a major FA Cup shock was on the cards when they were a goal down at half-time.
However, second-half goals from Stuart Dallas and Alex Mowatt booked Leeds’ place in the FA Cup fourth-round, where they will face the winners of AFC Wimbledon and Sutton United.
Leeds fans voiced their frustration on Twitter with Grimes’ display despite the win and feel he was poor.

What is Matt Grimes? Is he a player? I see the camera cut to his face now and then but is he ever on the pitch or is it clever camera work?

Team is pretty shocking but would struggle to find worse individual performance from a #lufc player in last 10yrs than Douk & Grimes tonight

Grimes completed his loan switch from Swansea in the summer and has failed to make a strong impression in the first-team.
The central midfielder has now made 11 appearances across all competitions, but has played a bit-part role in the club’s Championship campaign.
He has found himself behind the likes of team-mates Liam Bridcutt, Eunan O’Kane and Ronaldo Vieira in the pecking order and did little to impress supporters on Monday night.
Grimes is set to stay at Leeds until the end of the season and he will be hoping to force his way into the club’s starting XI on a more regular basis.
