Leeds fans react on Twitter to Newcastle beating Huddersfield

By Amir Mir

Newcastle beat Huddersfield 3-1 in the Championship on Saturday evening – and Leeds fans on Twitter enjoyed their rivals dropping points.

Garry Monk’s side had beaten Birmingham City 3-1 on Friday night to enhance their status in the top six but they would have loved the results on Saturday.

Along with the Terriers losing, second-placed Brighton were beaten 3-0 at Championship strugglers Nottingham Forest, their second defeat within the space of a week.

All of this has brought joy to the Elland Road faithful, with one fan thinking that second spot could be a possibility for his club.

At this moment in time, the Whites are in fourth place on 64 points from their 35 matches, one point behind Huddersfield who have a game in hand and seven points behind Brighton.

Leeds fans believe they are now on the heels of their neighbours with 11 games of the season remaining.

Furthermore, another fan pointed out that their win at St Andrew’s on Friday night is even more important given the results on Saturday.

The up and coming encounters will prove to be even more crucial with the games coming in thick and fast.

Monk’s side travel to promotion hopefuls Fulham on Tuesday night, while Huddersfield host in-form Aston Villa.

Overall, following the weekend games, Monk and his team will be the most pleased with the results.
