Leeds fans mock Sheffield Wednesday after Carvalhal sacking

Leeds United fans have taken to social media to mock Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday after news that they had sacked manager Carlos Carvalhal on Sunday.

The Owls confirmed via their official Twitter account, as well as their official website, that they had parted company with the Portuguese manager following their 2-1 defeat at home to Middlesbrough on Saturday, a game which also saw Boro boss Garry Monk relieved of his duties following the final whistle.

After celebrating Monk’s demise at the Riverside Stadium, following his controversial exit from Elland Road over the summer before joining the north east side, Leeds fans again turned to Twitter to mock Wednesday for their decision, with many celebrating the way the Whites are ran in comparison to their rivals.

Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

After joining Wednesday in the summer of 2015, Carvalhal took charge of 130 games for the Owls, winning 56 games, drawing 37 and losing 37.

His most notable results include a 3-0 win over English giants Arsenal in the League Cup back in 2015, as well as reaching the Championship play off final in the same season, being beaten by Hull City, and he leaves the club sitting 15th in England’s second tier.
