Leeds United are reportedly close to a deal for Carpi striker Jerry Mbakogu, but fans are are in two minds about whether he’s the answer to their problems.
La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira claimed that the player would sign a contract with Leeds on a £3million deal.
Jerry #Mbakogu is close to agreeing a move to #Leeds from #Carpi for €3,5 M. He’ll sign a contract until 2022. #LUFC #transfers

The only problem is Mbakogu is about as untried and untested as you can get.
He’s not set the world alight in Serie B where he’s had one good season with 15 goals in 30 games, but that was back in the 14/15 season.
Six in 25 league games this season suggest a power on the wane – not something that Leeds fans are looking forward to.
After hearing the news, Leeds fans flocked onto Twitter to make their voices heard, although not everyone was negative.

One fan said everyone should wait to see if Leeds sign an experienced striker on top before piling in, although he did say that if they didn’t, fans could fill their boots.
Another said that he’d wanted him at Leeds for years and compared him to Chris Wood, but another said he was a clown and that he wouldn’t be giving him a chance.
Here are the best reactions from the Leeds fans to the news about Mbakogu:

Jerry Mbakogu 6 goals in 22 Serie B appearances. No I won’t be giving that clown a chance. He won’t be good enough. Quickly losing any confidence I have left in Radrizzani if we go ahead and blow £5 million on pony like that.

This Mbakogu better be an upgrade on the likes of Ekuban & Grot. We need Championship ready / proven players. Not more overseas gambles

Before going berserk and tweeting Radz about the rumoured Mbakogu signing, could we wait and see if #LUFC bring in a top striker as well? If not, fill your boots.

Not sure getting this new investor in to help fund players like Mbakogu is worth it🤔 I used to give players benefit of the doubt but too many signings like this have turned out to be terrible signings as expected, thought we’d learned our lesson #lufc

Another punt on the roulette table for the unlucky number 10 by Orta. I wish Mbakogu well but with a 4 year deal if he's a flop were stuck with him. For me Orta needs to go #MOT #ALAW

What are we doing thinking about MBAkogu? Just because he has a degree in his name doesn’t qualify him for the championship! Have we not learned our lesson? We need a proven striker @andrearadri
