Leeds have confirmed that they have completed the signing of free agent Vurnon Anita – and fans on Twitter were mostly delighted with the deal.

The Whites announced on their official website on Thursday that the 28-year-old had penned a three-year deal at Elland Road following his release from Newcastle at the end of last month.

Anita becomes United’s sixth signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of Pontus Jansson, Hadi Sacko, Mateusz Klich, Madger Gomes and Felix Wiedwald in hooking up with the Yorkshire giants on permanent deals since last season ended.

The three-times Netherlands international brings a wealth of experience with him to Elland Road after rising through the ranks of the Ajax academy before spending five years with Newcastle.

He helped the Magpies in winning the Championship title last season and there’s no doubt that he’ll be hoping to do that again in Thomas Christiansen’s side next year.

On the whole, Leeds supporters were very happy with the latest deal, but one fan has dubbed Anita as “a liability” as he joins up with Christiansen’s revolution.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Anita is a very versatile player although last season saw him play predominantly as a right-back.

Throughout his career, the Dutchman has also been proficient at playing in a defensive or central midfield role as well as on the right wing.

In other Leeds news, the Whites are set to garner at least £5million after this first-teamer sealed his transfer.
