Alfonso Pedraza was handed his third start by Leeds in their goalless draw against QPR on Saturday afternoon – and fans on Twitter gave mixed verdicts to his display.

The winger was given an 73-minute runout at Elland Road and was unable to make a significant impact after being named in the starting XI for the second time this week.

Pedraza, 20, was joined in the attacking midfield positions from the start by Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez for the league encounter against the visitors from London.

The Spaniard became the second Leeds player to be substituted after Roofe when he was replaced by Souleymane Doukara late in the second period.

Leeds supporters were disappointed by their team’s attacking performance, which those on social media universally claimed as unconvincing, including that of Pedraza.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The Spain Under-21 international initially struggled for game time following his deadline day move to the Yorkshire giants from Villarreal in the January transfer window.

Pedraza started just one match of the six that he had been available for before Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

But he appears to have now gained the trust of manager Garry Monk and was named in the team ahead of the likes of Doukara, Hadi Sacko, Modou Barrow and Stuart Dallas against QPR.

Leeds remain on course for a place in the play-offs after consolidating their place at fourth in the Championship table with 65 points from 36 matches.

In other Leeds team news, the club are to pounce and re-sign a 23-year-old after a £10million transfer is all but sealed.
