Leeds are to put their promotion bid on hold as the international break takes precedence this week – but fans on Twitter are frustrated.

The Yorkshire-based club have built great momentum from an undefeated run stretching back to February 11, with a superb win over promotion rivals Brighton at the weekend capping off an excellent period for Leeds.

However, they must now wait almost two weeks before their next Championship outing, a crucial promotion clash with Reading on April 1, because of the international break.

Fans took to Twitter to vent their frustrations at the pending break, as they would rather see their side continue their pursuit of a return to the Premier League.

Many fans are also worried that some of their star players could return from international duty with injuries, including chief goalscorer Chris Wood.

Leeds have eight games remaining to cement their place in the Championship play-offs at the end of the season, but they face a tricky run of fixtures following the international break.

After the visit to Reading, three of their remaining seven games are against sides in the top ten; while their clashes against those in the bottom half won’t be straightforward either.

But to their advantage they boast an eight point lead over seventh-placed Fulham, giving them a small cushion to fall back on if they drop points in the coming weeks.
