Hadi Sacko was handed his first league start of the season in Leeds United’s 3-0 defeat to Wolves on Wednesday night – and fans on Twitter ripped into the attacker for his display.
The 23-year-old winger got a rare start after being frozen out for the entirety of the campaign, but he was taken off at half-time after struggling to influence the game.
Romain Saiss, Willy Boly and Benik Afobe were on the scoresheet for the visitors as they earned a comfortable win at Elland Road and re-established a six-point advantage at the top.
The result means that Heckingbottom’s team are nine points behind the play-off positions and any slim hopes of reaching the top six have all but disappeared.
Sacko was handed a left-wing role as he surprisingly got the nod over fit-again Pablo Hernandez but he could not get into the game against the dominant visitors.
Leeds fans on social media tore into the speed machine for what they felt was an invisible first-half performance and suggested that he should be nowhere near the starting XI.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Heckingbottom lost me with Sacko on the left wing. Not only was it never going to be effective but he also hung the player out to dry and embarrassed him at half time. How to get a group of players playing for you. #lufc

Have to start giving some academy lads a go. Season’s over and quite frankly recent performances from many have been embarrassing. Sacko’s performance tonight was something else. Only standouts were BPF and Hernandez #lufc

Heckingbottom’s only had the job for a month & he’s already had to resort to rolling the dice & hoping for the best. How can anybody expect us to challenge for promotion when we have Anita at left back & Sacko on the left wing? A better squad than last year? Give me a break #LUFC

Sacko shouldn't be anywhere near squad poor with the ball and doesn't track runners off ball #lufc
