Leeds first-team star wants talks over future after major interest - confirmed
Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has confirmed that he wants talks with the club about the direction they are heading in the future.
Jansson, 27, has been a real star of the Whites first-team over the past two seasons and that has understandably led to major interest in him.
The Sweden international’s agent Martin Dahlin has previously confirmed that there is “great” interest in his client and now it seems that Jansson would like discussions about where the club is going in the future after a lack of progress this season.
When asked about next term, Jansson told Swedish outlet Expressen: “We’ll see what’s happening, I want to hear from the club how to look next year and so on.”
Jansson has made 36 appearances in all competitions for Leeds this term, scoring three goals in the process.
He has perhaps not met the levels of performance he reached under Garry Monk, but he is still a vital cog in this Whites squad.

Football Insider verdict
Jansson is one of the most valuable assets at Elland Road but he is bound to be wanted by a top-flight club in the summer because of his form over the past couple of seasons. While he has not been at his best, he has not been partnered by an equally quality centre-back in Kyle Bartley this season. No Rob Green or Charlie Taylor does not help either in a Leeds defence that has been severely weakened around him. Southampton have been linked in the past so it would not be a shock to see them interested in the summer, among other Premier League sides.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites must ensure that this major error is only a one-off when they released this Premier League centre-forward.
