Leeds in hot pursuit of PL attacking prospect, top flight sides keen - report
Leeds United are in hot pursuit of Leicester City youth prospect Josh Eppiah as several top flight sides register their interest, according to a report.
ESPN FC claim on their website that the Whites are one of a host of clubs who are keen on snapping up the 19-year-old forward, who can operate as a central striker as well as on either wing.
Everton and West Ham, Leeds’ second tier rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bundesliga side RB Leipzeig are all registered with casting their eyes in the youngster’s direction.
The Belgian prospect is yet to make his senior debut for the Foxes, having come through the youth ranks at the club, but has been impressing with his performances for the reserve side this season.
Football Insider verdict
Leeds face a tough fight to prise Eppiah away from Leicester, but there may some convincing that he has more chance of developing into a top class player with game time, something which Leicester are yet to offer him. He is reaching a critical stage of his career, where he weighs up remaining in the top flight versus getting the first team action he no doubt desires, and it could be that this is the period which moulds his future. Is Leeds the best place for him? Only he knows the answer to that, but the Whites would certainly benefit from adding him to their squad. They are in an injury crisis right now, and none of the forwards have consistently proven themselves this season, so maybe increased competition would help fire Leeds up the table.
