Leeds’ uphill task to secure three points against Newcastle could become even steeper as Jack Colback and Isaac Hayden may return from injury, according to a report.
The duo have both missed the Toon’s last two outings, with Colback sidelined through a virus while Hayden has been struggling with a knock to his ankle.
Sky Sports claim Rafa Benitez is monitoring the fitness of the midfielders ahead of Good Friday’s evening clash, and could include both in a last-minute addition to his squad.
Benitez is already without top scorer Dwight Gayle as they welcome Leeds to St. James’ Park, with three points enough to push the Toon within an inch of Premier League promotion.
However, Leeds will be desperate to secure three points of their own, with play-off rivals Fulham, Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday all winning on Good Friday.

Manager Garry Monk is without defender Liam Cooper and goalkeeper Marco Silvestri, but is set to welcome back captain Liam Bridcutt and speed machine Hadi Sacko from injury.
Yorkshire fans will travel north, hopeful that their side can avoid a repeat of the reverse fixture back in November that saw the Toon win 2-0 thanks to a brace from Dwight Gayle.
With just two points separating Leeds from finishing outside the play-offs, the away clash against Newcastle could prove pivotal in where the Whites finish come the end of the season.
