Major Leeds blow: Key midfielder in race against time bid to be fit for clash against Burton - report

Eunan O’Kane is in a race against time bid to be fit for Leeds United’s Championship clash against Burton on Saturday, according to a report.
The Yorkshire Evening Post claim O’Kane faces a battle to prove his fitness for the fixture at Elland Road this weekend after being sent home from the Republic of Ireland’s camp ahead of their World Cup qualifiers with a groin injury.
O’Kane, 27, has been a key player for Leeds in the early weeks of the season after taking advantage of the faith shown in him by manager Thomas Christiansen.
The former Bournemouth player has started all five of Leeds’ league matches alongside central midfield partner Kalvin Phillips.
O’Kane will be particularly keen to hold on to his place after struggling to win back a first-team spot in the second half of last season after missing two months with a pelvic problem.

It meant a disappointing debut campaign for the Irishman as ex-manager Garry Monk rotated O’Kane, Phillips, Ronaldo Vieira and Liam Bridcutt between the central midfield positions.
To date, Christiansen has settled on a first-choice pair but he could be forced into a change if the senior man misses out on Saturday afternoon.
