Leeds winger Hadi Sacko is in a race against time to be fit for the team’s Championship clash against Newcastle next Friday, according to a report.
BBC Leeds claim on their live matchday blog (Saturday, 5.35pm) the French winger, 22, is suffering from ankle problems and is a major doubt for the St James’ Park fixture.
It is said that Sacko, who has missed the Yorkshire giants’ last two games, is suffering from bruising and swelling on his ankle.
The wide forward has made a major impact at Elland Road since joining on a season-long loan from Sporting Lisbon last summer.
Sacko has scored two goals and supplied four assists from 38 matches in all competitions for Leeds, which have included starts in 28 of the team’s 41 league encounters.
His pace and mobility has been key to Leeds opening up many of their opponents and he has been Garry Monk’s regular choice on the right side of the attack.
Kemar Roofe occupied that position on Saturday as the promotion hopefuls bounced back from consecutive defeat to dispatch Preston 3-0 at Elland Road.
Leeds are fifth in the Championship, with a haul of 72 points, and well placed to secure one of the four automatic promotion spots.
In other Leeds transfer news, the club have sealed an out-of-window midfielder transfer.
