Leeds make emphatic decision in hunt for £6m-rated goal machine - reliable journalist

Leeds United have taken the emphatic decision that they will not meet Peterborough’s valuation of prolific forward Jack Marriott, according to a reliable journalist.
Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay claimed on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday that Leeds do not see Marriott, 23, as being worth the £6million that Peterborough would want for him.

London Road goal machine Marriott has been in stunning form this season for the League One club, scoring a total of 24 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions.
Leeds’ need for a new striker appears to be growing stronger by the week, especially due to the rough patch of form that Thomas Christiansen’s men have found themselves in.
However there is now just a week left to run of the January transfer window and the Whites would have to move quickly if they were to sort out an area of the squad that is a huge problem at the moment.
Football Insider verdict
Marriott is in very good form and has proved that he can replicate his League One form against teams at Leeds’ level when he scored a brace against Aston Villa in the FA Cup earlier this month. That double would have no doubt bumped up his value. It would still be a risk to sign him though because he has not hit such prolific form like this in his career. Leeds could really do someone who is proven in the Championship, much how Derby have looked at Cameron Jerome to strengthen their bid for promotion. There are plenty of options out there but Jordan Hugill from Preston seems like the best one, if the Whites are willing to meet his valuation.
In other Leeds United news, fans on Twitter are furious after it was announced that yet another midfielder has left Elland Road.
