Leeds United failed to bounce back from defeat at Birmingham last week to draw 0-0 with managerless Nottingham Forest at Elland Road on New Year’s Day.

In the first game since Mark Warburton’s sacking on New Year’s Eve, Thomas Christiansen’s men failed to make the most of several good opportunities to take the lead as both goalkeepers were forced into making top saves.

Liam Cooper was forced into a brilliant last-ditch tackle to stop Ben Brereton from having a pop at goal when he was one-on-one with Felix Wiedwald  in the opening phases while at the other end of the pitch Pontus Jansson saw an effort cleared off the line.

Neither side really managed to take control until after half-time when Leeds started to press forward a bit more.

Samuel Saiz sparked one of the moments of the match when his mazy run from his own half saw him play in Kemar Roofe.

However the former West Brom forward would go on to smash the crossbar with his effort from the edge of the penalty area.

Wiedwald was on form to keep out Kieran Dowell’s long-range effort before a brilliant save from Jordan Smith at the other end of the pitch denied Pablo Hernandez of burying what could have been a winner.
