Leeds player ratings v Wigan: Midfield duo get 4/10 as Latics hold firm
By Will Butcher
Football Insider rates the Leeds players out of 10 following their 1-1 draw against Wigan at the DW Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Rob Green 7 – Assertive performance once again from the veteran goalkeeper, and impressed equally with his footwork as he made a number of stops throughout the match.
Lewie Coyle 7 – Coped with coming into the side with aplomb. His highlight of the match came in the first half with a smashing tackle to stop a Wigan breakaway. Solid display.
Kyle Bartley 6 – Consistent from Bartley but was guilty of losing his head on a number of occasions, which saw him pick up a yellow card just before half time for an overzealous tackle.
Luke Ayling 7 – A number of driving runs from his unnatural position of centre-back saw him inspire the Whites forward, solid at the back and hardly put a foot wrong.
Gaetano Berardi 7 – Probably Berardi’s best season in a Leeds shirt, despite playing largely out of position on the left side of defence. Made a number of interceptions; solid.
Ronaldo Vieira 7 – Battled superbly in the middle of the park. Top performance from the youngster, as he showed an array of both physicality, passing and maturity.
Eunan O’Kane 7 – A game of two halves. Did very little in the first half other than passing the ball sideways, but immediately in the second half he won the penalty after a driving run.
Kemar Roofe 7 – Plenty of nice touches in the final third and looked the most creative for Monk’s side, but struggled – along with the rest of the side – to test Matt Gilks.
Pablo Hernandez 4 – His early form this season is a distant memory. Hernandez was guilty of wasting a number of chances, with his first touch surprisingly letting him down. Too many times he went sideways instead of trying to hurt Wigan.
Stuart Dallas 4 – Non existent. Offered nothing on the left flank, and that was shown by Monk’s decision to take him off in the second half.
Chris Wood 6 – Quiet throughout the match other than scoring from the penalty spot to reach the 30-goal mark in all competitions.
Subs:
Alfonso Pedraza (On for Hernandez, 64 mins) 6
Hadi Sacko (On for Dallas, 70 mins) 7
Kalvin Phillips (On for Vieira, 77 mins) 6
