Leeds table last-gasp bid for £10m-rated powerhouse forward - report

Leeds United have tabled a bid worth £8million for Preston forward Jordan Hugill as they aim to snap up a striker before Wednesday night’s transfer deadline, according to a report.
The Mirror claimed in its print edition [Tuesday January 30, page 47] that North End are battling to keep hold of Hugill, 25, with the deadline fast approaching, but Leeds have tested their resolve with a last-gasp bid.
It is understood that the Whites’ offer is just short of Hugill’s valuation at Deepdale, with the Championship club looking to pocket £10million for the powerhouse forward, who is known for his strength and ability in the air.

Leeds are not the only Championship club in the race to sign Hugill as the report claims that Bristol City and Reading are among the other sides chasing the ex-Port Vale star.
Hugill has made 29 appearances in all competitions for Preston this term, scoring 10 goals in the process.
Football Insider verdict
Hugill will be a fantastic signing for Leeds and if they can afford the extra £2million then they should definitely meet it. There must still be some money floating around in the back accounts at Elland Road from their sale of Chris Wood to Burnley in the summer. Although Victor Orta has spread that money out on snapping up quantity over quality, surely Andrea Radrizanni can stump up the funding for Hugill. The Preston forward could be worth more than £10million by the summer alone if he hits the ground running at Leeds. He fits the mould of a player like Wood and is a step up on what is currently in Thomas Christiansen’s squad.
In other Leeds United news, this Arsenal player is heading to Elland Road in a late January switch.
