Leeds tipped to axe Rodrigo and make hardly-seen player new number 10 - Mills
Danny Mills has insisted the arrival of Dan James has given Leeds “more flexibility” in attacking positions.
The former Whites defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Wales international could seize the number 10 role from Spaniard Rodrigo.
James made his full debut in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle last night, playing 61 minutes on the left side of the Leeds attack before being substituted.
The attacker signed for Leeds from Manchester United on deadline day in a deal worth an initial £25million.
James was a livewire throughout the trip to St James’ Park and should have earned his side a spot-kick in the first half.
Rodrigo earned plaudits for a superb dummy which allowed Raphinha to net the first goal of the game.

However, he failed to trouble Magpies keeper Karl Darlow with any efforts of his own.
As such, Mills claimed Rodrigo could soon find his place in the Whites side under threat from the “quality” depth Leeds now possess.
“Dan James could fit into that role,” he told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“You could keep Raphinha on one side, and [Jack] Harrison on the other.
“Leeds have got this extra bit of quality in Dan James now, so they’ve just got to work out where each of those forward player’s best position is, and how Rodrigo fits into that.
“There’s no reason why Dan James can’t play in that Rodrigo role.
“He’s athletic, he’s good on the ball, can pick a pass, get himself on the ball and shoot from distance.
“It just gives Leeds a bit more flexibility and one or two more options.”
Jack Harrison missed last night’s match after testing positive for COVID-19.
Leeds currently sit 16th and are without a league win this season.
