Leeds transfers: Jonathan Rowe medical today as deal agreed – sources

Leeds United have lost out to Marseille in the race to sign Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe as he prepares for a medical on Thursday, sources have told Football Insider.

The French giants have agreed to sign the 21-year-old on an initial loan with an obligation to buy for a fee of £14 million plus add-ons.

Rowe, 21, a former Norwich youth player who has made 56 appearances for the senior side since 2021 and scored 13 goals, has agreed terms with Marseille.

Leeds submitted a verbal bid of £7million for the forward but that was knocked back by Norwich.

Football Insider revealed (August 20) that Leeds United have now turned their attention to Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo as they seek to add numbers for the long Championship season ahead.

Leeds United lose out on Jonathan Rowe

Leeds currently have the Championship’s smallest squad and have made more in player sales than any other club in England – £138 million.

After several high-profile departures, including Georginio Rutter’s £40 million move to Brighton, the West Yorkshire club has only managed to bring in two players.

The ex-Premier League club have also missed out on a deal for Bashir Humphreys with the young defender choosing Burnley over them.

Football Insider revealed (August 19) that Burnley had beaten Leeds United to the loan signing of Chelsea’s Humphreys.
