Leeds United about to sign Marc Roca for 'nothing' after update - pundit

Leeds United are about to sign Marc Roca for “nothing” as he jets into the UK for a medical.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Whites’ latest transfer business.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano (17 June), Bayern Munich midfielder Roca is set to undergo a medical on Friday ahead of a €12million (£10.2million) plus add-ons move to Leeds United.

The Yorkshire giants have already completed deals for RB Salzburg duo Rasmus Kristensen and Brenden Aaronson.

The 25-year-old may be joining as a replacement for Kalvin Phillips who, as revealed by this site on 13 June is the subject of an offer from Man City.

McAvennie has hailed the financial side of the deal.

“So, £10million for this guy? that’s good business,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s good and well signing these players but they have to come in and do it.

“These new signings have to come in and do it. Spending £10million on someone with the hope that they can be sold in a few years is good business.

“But you have to get it right with the players, they have to be good enough.

“Fees like that are nothing in today’s football, even though it is a lot of money to everyone else.”

Roca only made 13 appearances for Bayern Munich last season.

However, he only accrued 44 minutes of action in 4 Champions League appearances.
