Sources: Leeds submit new and improved Alioski offer

Leeds United have submitted a new and improved contract offer to Ezgjan Alioski to stop him quitting on a free, Football Insider understands.

The North Macedonia international, 29, snubbed a previous offer from United and was all set to leave when his current deal expires at the end of this month.

But a Leeds source has told Football Insider the club hierarchy are pulling out all the stops to keep him hold of the versatile left footer.

The Yorkshire giants are hopeful the improved, big-money offer will convince Alioski to stay at Elland Road.

It would represent a major U-turn from the cult hero and fans favourite.

This site exclusively revealed on 23rd March that the left-sided star, 29, had agreed a pre-contract with Galatasaray.

That sparked fury among many Leeds followers who remember how two of their fans were stabbed to death by Galatasaray supporters prior to a Uefa Cup match in 2000.

There has been no public comment from Alioski on his future and he remained in the starting XI in the final weeks of the season.

Leeds have long planned for the possibility he could leave and are planning to recruit a new senior left-back even if he stays.

The club’s top targets are Stade Brest’s Romain Perraud and Huesca’s Javi Galan, who is regarded as a cheaper alternative.

Alioski 29 of Leeds’ 36 league fixtures in the recently-completed season, most of them at left-back.

He made a strong impression in Marcelo Bielsa’s exciting side after converting from his previous more attacking roles.
