Leeds United employee shares emphatic Rasmus Kristensen prediction after what he's seen
Noel Whelan has backed Rasmus Kristensen to become a “fan favourite” at Leeds United after watching him in person for the first time against Cagliari.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old’s “intensity and work rate” will have the Elland Road faithful purring.
Kristensen was playing for the first time at home since completing a reported £10million move to Leeds United in June.
He was impressive in an advanced right-back role as the Whites ran out 6-2 winners against Cagliari in their final warm-up match before facing Wolves on Saturday (6 August).
Kristensen, an eight-time Denmark international, registered 10 goals and eight assists for RB Salzburg in all competitions last season.
The 25-year-old is likely to displace Luke Ayling as first choice option in the right-back berth.

Whelan insisted the new signing is “sure” to have the fans on his side if he continues to produce in a Leeds United shirt.
“Kristensen was playing so high at times, he was like a winger,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“That’s what Jesse Marsch wants from him. We didn’t have that same balance on the left because Struijk isn’t a natural wing-back.
“Kristensen is so attack-minded – he’ll be a fan favourite, that’s for sure. He’s so aggressive and he’s got great ability.
“We won the ball high up so much in the Cagliari half, hence why we scored six goals. We’re pressing, we’re on the front foot, and Kristensen is a big part of that. You can see why Marsch brought him in.
“He’s going to please the fans with his intensity and his work rate.
“That sort of thing will have the fans right behind you.”
