Leeds Exclusive: Kevin Phillips blown away by PL rising star exciting Bielsa's scouts
Kevin Philips has hailed Leeds United interest in Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and insisted he would be a shrewd signing this summer.
The former Sunderland and West Brom striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, suggested the 21-year-old’s age means any potential deal would carry on significant sell-on value.
As revealed by Football Insider last week, Marcelo Bielsa’s scouts have been keeping tabs on Ramsdale as they assess new keeper options and have been excited by his potential.
Ramsdale has impressed in his debut Premier League campaign for Bournemouth, starting all but one of the club’s 29 matches in the competition.
When asked if the shot-stopper would provide an improvement on what United have already got in that department, Phillips told Football Insider: “He has got Premier League experience. Any side that comes out of the Championship and into the Premier League will be looking at a player with that experience because it is a massive bonus. That sounds like a decent option for Leeds.
“Ramsdale has been around for a while for a young keeper. I could certainly see that being a viable signing if Leeds go up.

“His sell on value is a big plus. He is young with Premier League experience. Bournemouth would want quite a few quid to prize him away but even if you pay over the top there is the potential of recouping that money at some point.”
The England under-21 international, who spent last season on loan at AFC Wimbledon, has been on the Whites’ radar for the past two years.
Marcelo Bielsa is expected to be in the market for a new keeper this summer with doubts over Kiko Casilla and Illan Meslier’s Premier League credentials.
