Leeds news: Keith Wyness reacts to ‘kneejerk’ Daniel Farke sack latest
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Leeds United should not rush into a “kneejerk” sacking of Daniel Farke.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – backed the 47-year-old to turn things around at Elland Road despite the pressure building in the early part of this season.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (18 September) that Farke’s job is safe for now with club chiefs not ready to end his reign.
Nevertheless, the German is under pressure at Elland Road after the Whites’ underwhelming start to the season.
Leeds have picked up eight points from their opening five games in the Championship season after losing 1-0 at home against promotion rivals Burnley on Saturday (14 September).
Farke led the club to a third-place finish last term but lost out in the playoff final against Southampton.
Farke tipped to turn things around at Leeds and avoid ‘kneejerk’ sacking
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “You’d hope the 49ers understand football a bit more than some of the other American owners.
“They’ve been in this world a long time.
“You’d also hope that the CEO Angus Kinnear, who is a very good operator, can calm things down and make them understand that stability is the best way forward for Leeds.
“It’s a long season in the Championship. I’ve been there, and it kills you.
“It’s brutal and you need stability. You don’t need managers to feel unstable.
“I would hope there is no kneejerk reaction.
“Farke is a good manager, he’s good for Leeds.
“He’s also had some upset, they’ve sold some good players – he’s had to readjust the squad and get them going.

“I think Leeds can weather the storm and at the end of the season they will be there or thereabouts.
“Any kneejerk reaction would be wrong.”
