Kenny salutes Orta as face-to-face Leeds talks held with potential signing
Leeds United are wise to have a new goalkeeper in their sights – the last thing they want is to be left short in a “key area.”
That is according to ex-Whites shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Yorkshire Evening Post reported on 13th July that Victor Orta is in talks over signing a new keeper.
The Leeds director of football is claimed to have met with an unnamed overseas goalkeeper to discuss an Elland Road move.
Football Insider first broke news on 10th July that Kiko Casilla was set to undergo a medical at Elche ahead of a season-long loan.
Leeds confirmed that the Spaniard, who has a year remaining on his Leeds deal, had completed the switch to the La Liga side on 12th July.
Kenny saluted Orta for acting quickly to find replacement backup for first-choice goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “You don’t want to leave yourself short in that department. It’s a key area of the squad.
“You’ve got to have someone lined up, so I like the sound of this. It’s clever thinking and it looks good on Leeds.
“You can’t leave it too late and paying over the odds or panicking and going after someone you might not get.“
A Leeds source told Football Insider that Leeds will continue to pay a significant portion of Casilla’s £40,000-a-week wages during his loan.
As revealed by this site yesterday (14th July), Newcastle United keeper Freddie Woodman has turned down the chance to move to Leeds.
