Danny Mills has backed Leeds United forward Rodrigo Moreno to be fully fit against Arsenal at the weekend despite his period of isolation.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the former Whites and England full back insisted the international break has given the Spaniard ample time to get back up to speed.
The Yorkshire giants’ record signing entered a period of self isolation at the beginning of the month after coming in close contact with somebody who tested positive for coronavirus.
He missed Leeds’ 4-1 defeats to Leicester City and Crystal Palace but could return against Arsenal at the weekend.
The Athletic’s Leeds United reporter Phil Hay tweeted that the 29-year-old will be in contention to feature against the Gunners on Sunday.
Asked by Football Insider whether Rodrigo may be less match sharp after his period of isolation, Mills said: “The international break gave him an opportunity to get into the football club and work hard.
“He should have had several days of training before the Arsenal game so I don’t think that will effect him too much.
“He will have been given a regime to work on at home without question.
“Had he gone away on international duty that might have been a bit of a rest especially when we talk about Marcelo Bielsa’s training sessions!
“I don’t think his fitness will be an issue in any shape or form. You tend not to lose that. If you’re doing absolutely nothing for two weeks then yes of course but he won’t have been doing nothing.
“He’ll have been ticking over, he’ll have been working from home and doing everything he possibly can.”
