Paddy Kenny 'shocked' as Leeds plotting to sign two overseas goalkeepers
Leeds United should sign an experienced goalkeeper to provide cover for Illan Meslier.
So says ex-Whites shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Leeds’ search for a new man between the sticks.
This site revealed on 18th July that Leeds had pulled the plug on their pursuit of Newcastle United keeper Freddie Woodman, 24.
The pair, who are 24 and 20 respectively, are both under contract until 2022 and are both being considered by Leeds.
But it would be wiser for the Whites to go for a more established name as backup for Meslier in net, insists Kenny.

“Me personally, I’m shocked, it’s unbelievable they’re not going for experience,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“They’ve got Meslier there who is a youngster. I thought they’d go for someone who’s been there, done that and got the t-shirt.
“That would help Meslier as well because he’s still so young. An experienced keeper could help him progress along the way rather than having some young lads there.
“You need experience as a goalkeeper. You only get better and progress through your career with that experience.
“Mesler is playing at an unbelievable standard as such a young age, don’t get me wrong.
“But someone like a Tom Heaton who’s gone to Man United, you could put him in and know you could trust him, and he’d bring you that experience.“
