Leeds United told to seal Danny Ings signing after source’s reveal – pundit

Leeds United should consider a swoop for Aston Villa striker Danny Ings this season, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Arsenal and Everton forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 29-year-old could be the solution to the Whites’ striker problem.

Ings endured an indifferent 2021-22 campaign at Aston Villa.

A Villa source told Football Insider (25 May) that the club will listen to offers for the centre-forward 12 months on from his £25million arrival from Southampton.

Steven Gerrard wants to sign an elite striker this summer which has cast Ings’ future into doubt.

When asked if Leeds United should show an interest in the three-times England international, Campbell told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “Ings is a very good striker.

“Let’s not forget he has played for England.

“Leeds have to be in the conversation for a player like that. They have to be in the market for a striker or strikers this summer.

“I rate Joe Gelhardt very highly but they cannot go into next season with just Gelhardt and [Patrick] Bamford again.

“They need some experience up top and Ings would give you that.

“Bamford has had his injury issues. If he was fit last season I think they would have been fine. It would not have had to go down to the last game of the season.

“It just goes to show the important of having strikers. They need a stronger squad.”
