There is “no chance” Marcelo Bielsa would swap Leeds United for Spurs as he would be unwilling to cede any control to Daniel Levy.
That is according to ex-Premier League forward Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Jamie O’Hara urged Spurs to swoop for the Argentine manager.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the ex-Tottenham midfielder said: “He hasn’t signed [Leeds contract]. If you can try and prise him away from there, that would be an unbelievable move for Spurs.”
Bielsa’s current Leeds deal expires at the end of the season but owner Andrea Radrizzani is confident he will pen fresh terms.
Whelan rubbished the idea of Bielsa swapping West Yorkshire for North London, insisting he would find Levy’s meddling intolerable.
He told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: “No chance. I don’t think that relationship would work with Daniel Levy, quite frankly.
“I think he’s more than happy with what he’s building here at Leeds United.
“It’s all well and good going to Tottenham but they are going to be without Harry Kane next season.
“He’s going to be leaving. There’s gonna be a lot of changes at Spurs come to the end of the season.
“I think what he’s got at Leeds United and the relationship with Radrizzani, the fans and the players, I don’t think there will be too much tempting him away right now.
“He’s not the kind of manager that looks at another club and thinks: ‘Yeah, I want a crack at that.’ I really don’t think he’d walk.”
Bielsa joined Leeds in June 2018 and his side are enjoying an excellent campaign after promotion last season.
The Whites are currently 9th in the table with five games remaining.
